When you begin online you should try and keep costs as low as possible! The good news is you can drive a lot of traffic for free online. In this article I'll show you a very effective way of driving free website traffic.

I've detailed a great method of doing keyword research using Google Adwords Keyword Tool in Another Article; find keywords to target and produce content related to them.

When you have content related to the keywords you've chosen produced, let's take for example an article post it on the top article sites with a link back to your opt in page in the resource box of the article (check out my other articles on article marketing). When you submit to these sites, show your friends and followers but putting the link across your social networks like facebook and twitter. The day after that post the article on your blog. And post the links across your social networks again. All this can be automated by RSS feeds, using sites like Twitterfeed.

So you've got your content put together targeting the keyword you have chosen, let's say for the sake of argument it's an article submit to the top article directories (see my other articles on writing effective article marketing). When you've submitted your article, put the link across your social networks for your friends and followers to see. Next day post your article on your blog. Again post the link on your social networks. This can all be done automatically using RSS feeds, on sites like Twitterfeed.

All this activity due to one piece of content in such a short space of time give it a high chance of being viewed as important by Google, who then give it a higher search rank than if you just posted it to your blog and left it there. So if someone searches for the keyword you have used you have a great chance of showing up in a favourable search position. You could also track your results by implementing a free website traffic counter like Google Analytics.
